The City of Folsom is taking extra measures to insure the safety of its staff and volunteers with another spike in dangerous temperatures ahead.
Starting on Wednesday, July 10, the Steve Miklos Aquatic Center will be closing at 4 p.m.through Friday, July 12. City officials say the closure is due to extreme heat and its impact on aquatic center staff throughout the afternoon.
Regular summer hours and programming will continue starting Saturday, July 13, according to information from the City of Folsom.
In addition to the change in hours of its outdoor facility, the City of Folsom announced it will extend its cooling center operations through Friday, July 12, in response to high-risk heat forecasts this week, as previously published in a Folsom Times article on Monday.
The Folsom Police Department lobby at 46 Natoma Street will be open from 12 to 7 p.m.
Pets are allowed in the lobby only on cooling center days and must be in a carrier or on a leash.
Additional Sacramento County cooling centers will be open during this time due to expected higher than average temperatures. For the latest cooling center locations, dates, and hours, dial 211 or visit 211sacramento.org.
