Candice Hucik hosts family-friendly event this weekend as debut children’s book arrives on Amazon
EL DORADO HILLS- A dream that began at a kitchen table with crayons, storybooks, and bedtime prayers is now coming to life for local author and mom, Candice Hucik. Her debut children’s book, Charlie the Bestest Boy, is officially available on Amazon — and families are invited to join her for a special book launch party this weekend to celebrate its release.
The free event takes place Saturday, November 8 at 10 a.m. at Bayside El Dorado Hills Church, inside the Kids Building at 800 White Rock Road, El Dorado Hills. Guests can meet the author, enjoy storytime with Hucik, and participate in family activities including coloring sheets, photo opportunities, and more.

Hucik’s story introduces readers to Charlie, a tiny dog with silky fur, sparkling brown eyes, and an endless curiosity that often lands him in trouble. Through his adventures and the unconditional love of his owner, Ellie, children learn timeless lessons about patience, kindness, forgiveness, and faith. The book’s heartwarming message draws from Hucik’s own experiences as a mom, and from the conversations she’s had with her daughter while reading scripture together.
“I was inspired by the big, thoughtful questions my daughter asked when we started reading the Bible,” Hucik said. “Charlie’s story helps explain what it means to be loved no matter what — just like God loves us.”
After leaving the corporate world to spend more time with her family, Hucik began writing full-time while balancing life as a stay-at-home mom, worship leader, and volunteer in children’s ministry. She hopes this first book will be the beginning of a full series featuring Charlie and his lessons in love and faith.
Charlie the Bestest Boy is now available on Amazon, and families can celebrate its release with Hucik at the Bayside El Dorado Hills book launch party this Saturday.
