One of Folsom’s most heartfelt traditions is back. The annual CAPS Christmas Toy Drive has officially launched for the 2025 holiday season, uniting Folsom Police, Folsom Fire, and an army of dedicated volunteers to bring joy to local families who need it most. The community-wide effort, organized by Folsom Citizens Assisting Public Safety (CAPS), collects toys, clothing, and gift items each year to ensure no child in Folsom goes without something special during the holidays.
The drive has grown into a signature local tradition over more than eight years, fueled by the generosity of residents, businesses, and civic groups. CAPS volunteers work directly with local schools to identify families in need and gather each child’s holiday wish. Those wishes are then fulfilled by community members who shop, donate, or contribute gift cards that allow volunteers to complete remaining needs. Officers, firefighters, and CAPS volunteers personally deliver the gifts to families just before Christmas, creating moments that have become cherished across the city.
The 2025 campaign is now underway with multiple ways to join the effort. Residents can pick a child’s wish from the Virtual Christmas Tree at www.folsomtoydrive.com, which lists individual requests collected from identified families. Donors can shop locally or ship directly via Amazon to the Folsom Police Department. The drive also accepts new, unwrapped toys, clothing, and gift cards that can be dropped off at the Folsom Police Department, the Folsom Fire Department, and participating local sponsor locations listed on the official website.
As early winter arrives, CAPS volunteers say the need is once again significant, and community support is essential to making the program a success. The toy drive continues through December, giving residents plenty of time to choose a wish, make a donation, or encourage friends and neighbors to join the cause.
