One of the most impactful and unifying events on the city calendar is returning this fall. The 12th annual Folsom Community Service Day is set for Saturday, September 20, and city officials are calling on more than 1,500 volunteers to once again make a difference across parks, schools, trails, neighborhoods, and more.

Volunteer registration for most projects opens Monday, August 4. Those interested in helping with Folsom Cordova Unified School District (FCUSD) projects can begin registering Monday, September 1.

Organized by the City of Folsom in partnership with local businesses, nonprofits, churches, and service organizations, Community Service Day has grown into the city’s largest day of volunteerism. Since launching in 2014, the event has united thousands of residents around a shared goal: giving back to the community through meaningful service. More than 23,150 volunteers have taken part over the past 11 years, completing over 1,050 projects and lending their time and talents to causes big and small.

The event’s ongoing legacy can be measured in the impact it leaves behind each year. Volunteers have helped collect more than 645,000 pounds of food for the Twin Lakes Food Bank, completed over 620 home repairs and maintenance projects for senior citizens, and assembled thousands of care packages for active-duty military members. In addition, the day has supported dozens of local nonprofits through donations of bicycles, eyeglasses, pet supplies, toiletries, holiday gifts, and more.

Projects cover a wide range of needs, from school beautification and park cleanup to trail maintenance, library improvements, and work at the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary. Volunteer roles vary by project, and participants are encouraged to register early to select a cause they care about. Because of limited space, volunteers may not be assigned to the same project as friends or family members.

The city emphasizes that Community Service Day thrives on the dedication of its residents. It’s a day where people of all ages come together, take pride in their city, and make a lasting difference—demonstrating the strength and generosity of the Folsom community.
