All 33 campuses recognized for building connected, supportive learning environments
FOLSOM — Every Folsom Cordova Unified School District (FCUSD) school that applied for state recognition this year has earned it — a remarkable achievement that underscores the district’s ongoing commitment to fostering positive, inclusive, and supportive school communities.
All 33 FCUSD schools that submitted for the 2025 PBIS Statewide Recognition have been honored for successfully implementing national standards that create positive school climates. The recognition highlights the district’s dedication to student well-being, academic success, and safe, connected learning environments across all campuses.
The Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework is a data-driven model that helps schools encourage positive behavior, improve academic engagement, and reduce bullying and disciplinary issues. Schools that adopt PBIS with fidelity often see measurable gains in attendance, academic performance, and overall campus culture.
District officials shared that the achievement reflects the hard work and collaboration happening daily across the district and underscores FCUSD’s focus on continuous improvement and connectedness to ensure every student feels supported and valued.
The recognition also celebrates the efforts of FCUSD’s dedicated climate facilitators and site-based leadership teams, whose partnership and training have been vital in creating positive environments where students thrive. As part of this statewide honor, FCUSD and its recognized schools were featured on the California PBIS website and acknowledged at the 10th Annual California PBIS Conference in Sacramento, held Oct. 8–10.
The PBIS model, developed through national research beginning in the 1980s, was created to improve how schools select, implement, and evaluate behavioral practices that promote both academic and social success. Its framework emphasizes prevention, data-based decision-making, team collaboration, and tiered systems of support that serve all students — from schoolwide expectations to individualized interventions.
The approach has since expanded to more than 16,000 schools across the nation. Studies have shown that schools implementing PBIS effectively report stronger school climates, fewer disciplinary referrals, and improved student performance.
For FCUSD, this recognition reinforces the district’s reputation as a leader in creating safe, engaging, and connected learning environments. From elementary through high school, campuses across Folsom and Rancho Cordova have built strong systems of support designed to help every student succeed both academically and socially.
With its full slate of schools earning recognition this year, Folsom Cordova Unified stands out as a model district in California’s continuing effort to promote positive behavior, belonging, and success for all students.
