Proposed 8,000 home master plan that could expand city border also on tap
Crime and homelessness have both been much talked about topics amongst residents and business owners in Folsom in the wake of recent incidents. This coming Tuesday, April 23, its expected that the seats in Folsom City Council Chambers will be well occupied as the council members and the public will hear a presentation on crime and homelessness in the city put together by Folsom Police Chief Rick Hillman and his staff.
As the police department will share their most recent statistics, needs and ask for direction by council for further action, its’ just one of many key items on the agenda for the public meeting that begins at 6:30 p.m. HART of Folsom will also present on the topic of homelessness during the meeting, specifically on the 2024 Folsom Winter Shelter program.
Amongst the topics of interest will be a proposal for a 2,800-acre, 8,000-home master planned community south of White Rock Road that would span parts of both Sacramento and El Dorado County. This item is being presented to Folsom City Council due to applicants wanting 1,400 acres that are currently in unincorporated Sacramento County to be annexed to the City of Folsom, which would requiring Folsom’s border to be expanded and making the city responsible for providing services to future development, which could be approved or denied by city council.
The evening includes additional topics that include a resolution to execute and agreement for environmental support services for water; a resolution to execute an agreement for audit services for years 2024 through 2026; a resolution to adopt an amended fee schedule for Community Development and Engineering and more.
Tuesday’s Folsom City Council meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall, located at 50 Natoma Street in Folsom. Members of the community are always encouraged to attend city council meetings, either in person or via webcast.
