FOLSOM – The Folsom Area Democratic Club (FADC) will host a community Get Out the Vote (GOTV) Town Hall featuring Congressman Eric Swalwell, offering local residents an opportunity to engage directly with the East Bay lawmaker ahead of the November election. The free event will focus on voter education, civic participation, and constructive discussion on key issues facing the region.

California voters will soon consider Proposition 50, a statewide ballot measure addressing elements of the state’s election system and representation rules. The measure asks Californians whether to adopt a newly drawn Congressional map that would remain in place for six years. A Yes vote would enact the measure’s provisions; a No vote would retain current law. The town hall aims to provide residents with clear information about the measure and updates on other government actions.

Earlier this year, the Folsom Area Democratic Club hosted Congressman Swalwell for a town hall that drew roughly 600 attendees, underscoring the community’s growing civic engagement. Building on that momentum, this fall’s event will emphasize practical steps residents can take to participate in the election and strengthen local democracy.

Congressman Eric Swalwell represents California’s 14th Congressional District, encompassing communities in the East Bay including the Tri-Valley and surrounding areas such as Dublin, Pleasanton, Livermore, Hayward, Union City, Castro Valley, and San Leandro, as well as portions of nearby communities within Alameda County. First elected to Congress in 2012, he has focused on issues including public safety, technology and innovation, government accountability, and support for working families. His office regularly engages local stakeholders on federal programs, constituent services, and community priorities throughout the district.

The GOTV town hall will include opening remarks from FADC leaders on civic participation, followed by a discussion with Congressman Swalwell on constituent priorities, federal programs, and how federal policy intersects with local needs. The evening will feature an audience Q&A and opportunities for attendees to sign up for volunteer activities such as phone banking, canvassing, and literature distribution.

The event will take place Monday, November 3, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m. in Folsom. The exact location will be provided upon registration. Those wishing to attend can RSVP HERE.

Folsom and the surrounding area have seen rising interest in civic engagement, with residents seeking opportunities to learn, ask questions, and contribute to their community. The town hall is intended to serve as a constructive forum where neighbors can receive timely information about the election, understand what Proposition 50 entails, and connect with voter resources. FADC’s goal is to host a respectful environment where all attendees—longtime volunteers and first-time participants alike—feel comfortable engaging in the democratic process.
