As they continue to grow in membership, Soroptimist International of Folsom and El Dorado Hills celebrated its official ribbon cutting with the Folsom Chamber of Commerce this month.
Soroptimist is an international volunteer organization working to improve the lives of women and girls, in local communities and throughout the world.
Over 80,000 Soroptimists in about 120 countries and territories volunteer time and contribute financial support to community–based and international projects that benefit women and girls. The name, Soroptimist, means “best for women,” and that’s what the organization strives to achieve.
As they state on their webite, Soroptimists are, “women at their best, working to help other women to be their best.’ Soroptimist programs include “Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls” and “Live Your Dream: Education and Training Awards for Women.”
Additional club level projects range from anti-trafficking awareness and victim support to Dress a Girl Around the World sewing projects. Members enjoy working together to make a difference in the community and positively impacting local women and girls.
The local chapter is seeking additional members to join their organization for those that are interested. By joining Soroptimist, members you have the opportunity to connect with like-minded women, build life-long friendships and take advantage of various networking opportunities, while improving the lives of women and girls.
They welcome interested members to join them at one of their monthly meetings. For more information contact the local chapter through their website at: www.sifedh.com.
