FOLSOM – A Cameron Park man employed at a Folsom elementary school has been arrested and charged with a series of felony sex crimes involving minors, according to details released by the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office Friday morning.
According the department’s recently releases report, Shawn O’Donnell was taken into custody on Monday, just days before the start of the 2025 school year, by detectives from the Sheriff’s Office Investigations Unit following what authorities described as an extensive investigation. According to a statement released by the department, detectives obtained evidence that O’Donnell had been sending explicit material and attempting to arrange meetings for sexual encounters with juveniles.
O’Donnell is currently facing multiple felony charges, including Oral Copulation with a Minor, Sending of Explicit Material to a Minor, Contacting a Minor to Engage in Sex Acts, Pandering, and Human Trafficking.
Detectives confirmed that O’Donnell was employed as a janitorial supervisor at Natoma Station Elementary School in Folsom. “FCUSD is aware of the arrest of Shawn O’Donnell, head custodian at Natoma Station Elementary School. We were made aware of charges against him on Tuesday, August 5, and have been working collaboratively with the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office. We can assure the community that he has no access to any FCUSD campus,” reads a statement by the FCUSD that was sent to Folsom Times.
“These allegations are disturbing and upsetting. We are told there is no evidence or indication of involvement with FCUSD students. We want to assure our public that the safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our top priority, and appreciate the close partnership we have with local law enforcement,” the statement continued. “As this is an ongoing investigation, please reach out to the Sheriff’s Office and Detective Gurrola should you have a need.”
