Units from the Folsom Fire Department are in response to a home fire Monday evening on in the American River Canyon community of Folsom.

At 6:43 p.m. units were dispatched to the 100 block of Oak Rim Way in the American River Canyon community for a reported structure fire following a 911 call.

Upon arrival firefighters reported an active fire with heavy black smoke in the home and were establishing water supply and making entry into the home for a primary search of occupants and an initial attack

Five Folsom engines initially responded to the incident along with one rescue unit, one truck from El Dorado Hills, a medic unit, air rehab unit and two battalion units

This is an active incident, updates will be reported here below by Folsom Times staff as they become available

6:59 pm: no occupants in the structure, in primary search, secondary underway and firefighters will perform vertical ventilation through the roof of the home.

7:06 p.m. firefighters report the fire is no longer active and appears to be contained to one living area of the home with extension into the wall and into the attic of the home. Incident command has instructed firefighters on scene to shift into property/contents recovery of the home.

7:45 p.m. some units remained on scene for mop up.

The cause of the fire was under investigation Monday night.
