Family of baby boy that first responders delivered on a a 911 call stops by Folsom fire station to say thank you
In a touching reunion last week, filled with gratitude and joy, Folsom firefighters were recently reunited with one of the city’s newest residents—a baby boy they helped bring into the world just one month ago.
On the morning of March 6, a local family in the American River Canyon neighborhood awoke to the unexpected arrival of their newborn son. With labor progressing rapidly, they placed a 911 call that prompted Engine 36 and Medic 36 of the Folsom Fire Department to respond without delay.
Upon arrival, firefighter-paramedic Kyle Post and his team found the expectant mother on the bathroom floor and quickly determined that transporting her to the hospital in time would not be possible. Post, 31, a seasoned paramedic with multiple emergency deliveries under his belt, led the effort and safely delivered the healthy baby boy right there at home.
“It’s always an awesome feeling to bring life into the world and do it in a way that’s so positive,” said Post. “I was the person that delivered the child, but I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the support of everyone on the crew.”
Post emphasized the team effort behind the successful delivery, which involved four other members of the Folsom Fire Department on scene. After ensuring both mother and child were stable, the crew coordinated a safe transport to the hospital for continued care.
Last Friday, the firefighters were given a heartfelt opportunity to meet the baby again when his grateful family stopped by the fire station for a reunion. Smiles, hugs, and a few tears were shared as the crew held the infant they had once welcomed into the world under urgent circumstances.
“It’s moments like these where we are honored to have played a role in such a joyful event,” said a statement from the department. “Reconnecting with this amazing family reminds us why we do what we do.”
The heartwarming encounter served as a reminder of the impact that first responders can have—not only in moments of crisis, but in helping write the first chapter of a brand-new life.
