The Folsom Fire Department initially responded to the 911 call reporting the blaze at approximately 6:35 a.m. Friday in the vicinity of 831 Eagle Ridge Circle, situated between Eagle Ridge Circle and Hawk Court in close proximity to several homes.

Fire crews were able to quickly stop forward progress of the fire and mitigate any further danger to structures and remained on scene for nearly two hours to ensure all hot spots were fully extinguished.

There was no damage to residential homes and no injuries were reported. Fire officials are currently investigating the cause of the fire.

The prompt response and effective containment efforts by firefighters prevented the spread of the fire, which occurred in a grassy area along the ridge line containing dry fuels, conditions that have kept firefighters busy across the the region over the last several days as temperatures continue to remain high.

Throughout the afternoon and overnight on the Fourth of July firefighters across the region have been extremely busy with fires that broke out in areas of Folsom, El Dorado Hills, Rancho Cordova, Rancho Murieta, Anatolia, Citrus Heights and Fair Oaks as well as in Sacramento and Galt where several structures were also damaged.

The excess calls had departments assisting one another and leaning on the California Office of Emergency Services for additional manpower at times. Are 911 dispatch centers were also flooded with calls, making if difficult for callers to get through quickly with the high number of incidents and illegal fireworks use across the area.
