Folsom firefighters are on the scene of a vegetation fire near structures off Greenback Lane near Orangevale tonight, July 4.
At 8:09 pm, units were dispatched to the area of 9583 Greenback Lane for a reported vegetation fire in the vicinity of commercial and residential structures.
Upon arrival to the area, firefighters were attempting to access the fire they had a visual on that was approximately 1-2 acres in size located behind the area Riebes Napa Auto Parts and we’re working toaccess it from multiple areas, including the back yard of a residence on Raeanne Lane.
The fire was reportedly burning parallel to the nearby business and apartment complex with several pallets on fire in addition to vegetation. Personnel is prepared to initiate residential evacuations nearby if needed.

8:27 pm A total of seven engines were on scene and firefighters were making progress on stopping the forward movement of the fire.
8:30 pm: Units report forward progress has been stopped but extensive work needed to work inside the fire’s perimeter. Units call off possible evacuations.
8:49 pm: Incident command reports firefighters will be working the scene to continue full extinguishment of the fire and mop up.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
The Folsom incident is one of several working vegetation fires in Sacramento County Tuesday evening just after nightfall.
