Folsom’s scenic bike trails will be buzzing with activity this weekend as the popular Folsom Pedal Quest returns to town for a free, family-friendly cycling event that celebrates fun, fitness, and community. Set for Saturday, May 3, this one-day adventure kicks off the region’s “May is Bike Month” campaign with a choose-your-own-route format that encourages riders of all ages and abilities to explore Folsom’s paved trail system at their own pace.

Presented by Clipped In for Life in partnership with the City of Folsom and Choose Folsom, Pedal Quest has become a signature community event designed to highlight the city’s connectivity, healthy lifestyle opportunities, and welcoming cycling culture. Whether you’re a family out for a short morning ride or a seasoned cyclist looking to log some early May mileage, Pedal Quest offers a fun and flexible way to experience Folsom on two wheels.

“Pedal Quest is a fun and flexible way for people of all ages to get outside, be active, and explore Folsom’s renowned trail system,” said Folsom Parks & Recreation Director Kelly Gonzalez. “Whether you’re riding one mile or 30, it’s a great day to enjoy the outdoors and connect with the community.”

Choose Your Quest Across the City

Participants will choose from eight self-guided loops that range in distance from 1.5 miles to 30 miles, allowing every rider to craft their own adventure. All routes begin and end in Historic Folsom and are exclusively on paved bike trails, minimizing any road riding and making the event approachable for young riders and new cyclists. Color-coded pavement arrows and detailed maps ensure riders can easily stay on course.

Whether you opt for the scenic Rainbow Bridge Loop, the lakeside Lake Natoma route, or take on the challenging 30-mile Folsom Big Loop, each path showcases a different part of the city. Along each route, rest stops will offer self-serve water and collectible Pedal Quest stickers. Riders who collect different colored stickers can turn them in for raffle tickets—prizes this year include entries to the Folsom Pro Rodeo and other local goodies. Check-in is open from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the historic train depot on Wool Street.

Races take place every 30 minutes from 9:30 a.m. to noon and are limited to 25 children per session. Helmets are required, and demo Strider bikes will be available in limited supply. Registration for the Balance Bike Bash is also free and can be completed at www.folsompedalquest.com.
