Volunteers sought for event that runs Friday and Saturday nights in Historic Folsom
A new haunted experience is coming to Historic Folsom as October arrives. Folsom History is gearing up for its inaugural Haunted History at The Square, a spine-tingling event that promises to bring the eerie and enigmatic tales of our past to life. Set for Friday and Saturday evenings in October from 7-10pm, at 196 Wool Street in Historic Folsom, this year’s haunted extravaganza will transform The Square into a realm of ghostly encounters and historical horrors.
Prepare for a chilling experience as The Square becomes a stage for phantoms of Folsom’s past. Encounter spectral figures from infamous Folsom prison breaks, ghastly gold miners, and blacksmiths who met gruesome fates, among many other eerie entities. Haunted History at The Square is designed to deliver a thrilling journey through history with a spooky twist.
“We are excited to share the stories that make Folsom’s history so unique, especially during this haunting season,” said Jim Metzker, Folsom History Board Member. “It’s a perfect way to engage our community and celebrate our rich heritage.”
Tickets for this frightful event are priced at $13 for Folsom History members and $15 for nonmembers. They will go on sale starting September 20th at www.folsomhistory.org/hauntedhistory. Please note, attendees must be 13 years old or accompanied by an adult to enjoy the ghostly festivities.

What is The Square?
Folsom History is in the process of transforming The Square into a historically inspired Makerspace. Our long-time blacksmiths were the inspiration for our new direction. Today there is a revival in “making” among communities across the country. There are currently few spaces in Folsom for children or adults to actively create. Yet we know this is a skill that we must cultivate and support. By being a place that honors the historical roots of “makers” while connecting with the creative communities of our region, The Square can become more relevant and support the needs and interests of many residents of Folsom.
