The Vista Jr. Eagles Competitive Cheer Squad received a special honor at Tuesday’s Folsom City Council meeting, where Mayor Sarah Aquino presented the team with a Resolution of Commendation in recognition of their outstanding performance at the JAMZ National Championship in Las Vegas.

The squad, made up of young athletes from the Folsom community, took first place in the highly competitive Division 15 – Level 2 category. Their victory didn’t stop there—among all 42 teams in their division, they earned the title of Grand Champion by achieving the highest overall score of the competition.

During the council meeting, Aquino praised the team’s hard work, dedication, and exceptional talent. The commendation officially recognizes their achievement on behalf of the city, celebrating the young athletes for bringing national recognition to Folsom.

“Their hard work, dedication, and performance merit recognition from the City of Folsom,” read the resolution presented by Folsom Mayor Sarah Aquino. “On behalf of the Folsom City Council and the Folsom community, we extend commendations in the highest regard to the members of the Vista Jr. Eagles Comp Cheer Squad and encourage their continued success in the future.”

The team’s championship run marks a significant accomplishment for the Vista Jr. Eagles, a local youth football and cheer organization that fosters teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.

Their national success of the Vista Jr. Eagles serves as a testament to their dedication and the strength of Folsom’s vibrant youth sports programs, which were also recognized prior to Tuesday nights meeting.
