A Folsom Lake College professor and head baseball coach was arrested Thursday afternoon following a reported domestic disturbance and police standoff with police in Placer County..
Roseville police said officers were called to the 1400 block of Orwell Drive, near McAnally and Country Club, around 1:30 p.m. August 14 for reports of a disturbance between a man and a woman. Responding officers determined a physical altercation had taken place, though neither party sustained major injuries.
Authorities said that shortly after officers arrived, the man barricaded himself inside a bedroom while the woman was able to safely leave the residence. Roseville’s Community Needs Team was deployed to communicate with the suspect, and after negotiations he exited the home peacefully and was taken into custody.
The suspect was identified as 51-year-old Richard Gregory. He was booked on alleged charges of felony domestic violence and obstruction, according to Roseville police.
Gregory has been professor of health education at Folsom Lake College and has also served as the college’s head baseball coach. Folsom Lake College, part of the Los Rios Community College District, has not released a statement or further details regarding the incident at this time.
