On Jan. 29, Folsom Police responded to reports of a suspicious man on the grounds of Blanche Sprentz Elementary School located at 249 Flower Drive in Folsom. Employees at the school reported that a man was allegedly asking “odd questions,” and was reportedly taking photos of the exterior of the school before entering the facility.

Officers responded to the school and identified Wang. Officers recognized him from prior calls of similar suspicious activity, similar to this incident, according to the report. That day, Wang was arrested for an outstanding warrant for possession of an assault weapon that was unrelated to the call at the school, where he was noted to be unarmed.  He was booked into the Sacramento County Jail and released on bail.

Folsom Police explained that the outstanding warrant Wang was arrested for stemmed from a firearm that Wang had turned in to the Folsom Police department months earlier, which was later determined to be an illegal weapon.

On Wednesday, Jan. 31,Wang appeared in a Sacramento courtroom where he was arraigned for the charges related to the previous warrant. According to court records, he was placed on pre-trial probation, with stay away orders in place for all Folsom Cordova Unified School District schools and prohibited from possessing firearms.

According to Sacramento County Jail records, Wang remains in custody and is ineligible for bail. He faces felony charges of being in possession of firearms while on probation and failure to comply with a court order.

Wang is scheduled to appear in Sacramento County Superior court on the new charges on Feb. 5. Arrest records show Wang being charged with several contempt of court/disobeying a court order reports in 2023. He was reportedly arrested for battery in 2014.
