A motorcyclist was critically injured Sunday afternoon after being ejected from a dirt bike while riding at Prairie City State Vehicular Recreation Area, prompting a multi-agency emergency response that included air transport to a trauma center.

Folsom Fire Department crews responded to the off-highway vehicle park, which is now part of the city’s expanded response area, following reports of an unconscious male rider. Emergency personnel from Folsom Fire and California State Parks were first to reach the patient and provided immediate on-scene care.

Due to the severity of the rider’s injuries and the remote nature of the incident location, CALSTAR air ambulance was dispatched and airlifted the patient in critical condition to a nearby trauma facility.

The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District also assisted at the scene, contributing to what officials described as a fast and coordinated rescue effort.

“This incident underscores the importance of seamless cooperation between agencies, especially in areas where access may be challenging,” Folsom Fire officials said in a statement. “Quick action from ground and air teams can make the difference in saving a life.”

Prairie City OHV Park, located just southeast of Folsom, is a popular destination for recreational off-road riding but poses risks due to its rugged terrain and high-speed activity. Emergency officials continue to stress the importance of safety gear and riding within one’s ability level when visiting the park.
