The Folsom City Council convened for its first regular meeting of the new year on Tuesday night. Among the busy list of agenda items, the Council officially approved the appointment of a new City Manager and finalized the associated employment agreement and terms. I am confident that our city will continue to grow and thrive under his leadership.”

Following former City Manager Elaine Andersen’s retirement announcement, the City Council engaged the executive search firm Bob Murray & Associates to recruit the City’s next City Manager. During a closed session on December 16, in accordance with the Brown Act, the City Council unanimously expressed their intention to appoint Whitemyer. Council authorized Aquino and Councilmember Anna Rohrbough to negotiate employment terms with Whitemyer. Whitemyer’s salary was approved at $310,000 per year with an additional car allowance.

Whitemyer has over 23 years of experience in municipal government and public administration. He joins Folsom from the City of Oakdale, where he served as City Manager for the past 12 years. Before his tenure in Oakdale, he held the position of City Manager in the City of Hughson from 2010 to 2013 and served as Assistant City Manager in the City of Patterson from 2007 to 2010.

“I am honored to have been selected as Folsom’s City Manager and am eager to serve this wonderful city,” said Whitemyer. “This is a community known for its rich history, vibrant neighborhoods, and strong sense of civic pride. I look forward to working alongside the dedicated residents, businesses, City Council, and city staff to continue moving the city forward. Together, we’ll build on what makes Folsom a great place to live and make sure it stays that way for years to come.”

Whitemyer holds a bachelor’s degree in international studies from Brigham Young University and a master’s degree in public administration from California State University, Stanislaus. He is a member of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and represents the Central Valley City Manager’s Division within the League of California Cities.
