Thanks to an observant resident, Folsom Police officers recovered a modified blank pistol they believe belongs to a late night cyclist that was arrested on other charges last week.
Last Thursday. April 10 at approximately 11:30 p.m., Folsom Police Officers say they attempted to stop a cyclist for moving violations, according to a report posted by the Folsom Police Department. The suspect, later identified as Alexander Anderson, 28 , a resident of Citrus Heights, refused to cooperate with officers and quickly fled.
After evading officers on foot through multiple yards near the 9400 block of Greenback Lane. Anderson was detained with the help of an observant homeowner. He was booked into the Sacramento County Jail on multiple warrants and as well as a new charge for resisting arrest.
The next day, a satchel containing a modified blank pistol was found in a backyard, believed to belong to Anderson.
“A huge thank you to the residents who helped by giving us information to locate the man, and later to recover his bag and starter pistol,” the Folsom Police Department said in a statement community statement.
Blank guns are non-lethal alternatives to firearms if not modified. They feel, sound, and work just the same. These days, blank guns are becoming a sought-after means of self-defense as they are legal but still sound and look like a firearm, but they cannot shoot live ammunition unless illegally modified.
Sacramento County Jail records on Monday show Anderson remains in custody and is ineligible for bail. His pending charges include possession of a concealed firearm as well as resisting arrest. He is scheduled to appear in Sacramento County Court on Tuesday, April 16.
