The Folsom Police Department and the Folsom Police K9 Association are mourning the loss of one of their four-legged heroes following the passing of Police K9 Trigger, a black Labrador retriever remembered for his service, loyalty and gentle spirit.
The Folsom Police K9 Association confirmed this week that Trigger, who served alongside officers for years, ended his watch last month. In a message shared by the association, the department expressed gratitude for the impact Trigger made both on duty and within the law enforcement family he served.
“Unfortunately we recently had to say goodbye to our old friend, K9 Trigger,” the association stated. “A heartfelt thank you to K9 Trigger for his years of service, loyalty, and joy he brought to our law enforcement family.”
Trigger was more than a working K9. Those who knew him described a dog with an easygoing personality who connected naturally with the community, particularly children, and who fully embraced life after retirement.
His longtime handler, Detective Graham, shared a personal message remembering Trigger not only as a partner in law enforcement but as a member of his family.
“Rest easy, my friend. Last month we said goodbye to the most loving, loyal, goofy black lab anyone could ask for. It was an honor to be your handler, your friend, and to have you as part of our family. You loved the kids, embraced retirement, chased adventures in Tahoe, and played outside until the very end. Thank you for your service, your loyalty, and the joy you brought to everyone who knew you. You will be deeply missed, always remembered, and forever loved. K9 Trigger, end of watch.”
