Western Rodeo Week is officially underway in Folsom as the city ushers in the 63rd annual Folsom Pro Rodeo this week. Across the city, the Rodeo spirit is strong as businesses and residents alike are celebrating the long tradition that draws thousands to the city each year.  From places like Handley’s Western Wear to Rancher Hat Bar, Historic Folsom to the Palladio, shoppers are buying up what they need to get their “rodeo on,” this week and the Folsom Police Department is no exception as well. 

This week, the Folsom Police Department paying homage to the Folsom Pro Rodeo, thanks to a handful of local businesses and organizations that came together to dress the department’s officers this week to fit the rodeo theme. While we hope you don’t, if you get pulled over in the City of Folsom this week, don’t be surprised if you see a uniformed officer walk up to your window donning a cowboy hat as Folsom’s finest too gets into the spirit of rodeo this week.

“We’re tipping our hats to the Folsom Rodeo and the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department Rodeo. Thanks to the generous donations from the Folsom Police Foundation, Handley’s Western Wear, Community West Bank, and Buckaroo Leather, cowboy hats are authorized for our officers this week,” the Folsom Police Department said in a statement as they shared the fun news this week. “We’re tipping our hats and extending a huge thank you to these generous sponsors for making this possible. Join us in celebrating the spirit of the West at this exciting event.”

The Folsom Pro Rodeo beings July 3 and continues through July 5 this year, followed by the first ever Sacramento Sheriff’s Rodeo on July 6. Tickets are selling fast for this year’s event as preparations are underway at the Dan Russell Arena and William’s Rodeo Park to prepare for the some 20,000 plus rodeo fans that will flock to the city. July 3 and July 5 have been officially sold out, according to the Folsom Chamber of Commerce.
