Folsom Police have released details on an armed robbery at a Folsom cell phone store where two employees were assaulted.
On Thursday afternoon, just before 5:45 pm, two males wearing masks robbed a Verizon cell phone store in the 900 block of East Bidwell Street in Folsom. One of the suspects had a handgun, according to details provided by Commander Andrew Bates of the Folsom Police Department and security images.
During the robbery, the suspects assaulted two employees at the store with their fists and the pistol. The thieves took electronics and fled through the back of the store toward Montrose Drive.
The amount of the loss is estimated in the tens of thousands of dollars, but the exact amount is not being released. The injured employees were treated at the scene.
Officers rushed to the area and searched for the suspects but could not locate the robbers. Folsom Police Department detectives are investigating and are asking for the public’s help.
If anyone saw the suspects running from the store or suspicious activity, or has information about this robbery, please contact Detective Justin Cain at 916-355-7231 or jcain@folsom.ca.us
Witnesses described the males as “light-skinned black males” in their teens, according to the report. One wore blue jeans and a black sweatshirt with white writing and black shoes. The other was wearing blue track pants with white stripes, a black sweatshirt with a red, white, and black design on the back, and black and white shoes.
Because this is an active investigation, additional details are not being released, according to Bates and the department’s media release.
The department has released a series of photos of the suspects captured by security cameras.
