An investigation is underway after a body was found at Folsom’s Lembi Park Friday afternoon, according to the Folsom Police Department.
At approximately 1:20 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, officers with the Folsom Police Department were dispatched to the area after a City of Folsom work crew discovered a dead body at the park. Workers discovered the body in an area near the corner of the park, behind the Folsom Aquatic Center that is located at 1200 Riley Street.
At this time, the incident is an active investigation with very little information. According to Commander Andrew Bates with the Folsom Police Department the body appears to be that of adult male. Bates told Folsom Times that investigators have not released the age or condition of the decedent and at this time there are no signs of foul play involved. The case continues to be under investigation to fully identify the individual and determine the cause of death.
The incident drew the attention of those in the area late Friday afternoon with multiple police units in the area and restricted access as officers investigated. It continues to be an open investigation, Folsom Times staff will update this report as any additional information is releases from detectives.
