FOLSOM — The Folsom Police Department is actively investigating two separate fatal vehicle collisions that occurred within a nine-hour span between Tuesday afternoon and early Wednesday morning, each resulting in the death of a driver.

The first incident took place just before 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, at the intersection of Folsom Boulevard and Iron Point Road. Officers responded to reports of a solo-vehicle crash in which a vehicle had struck a tree. Upon arrival, police and Folsom Fire Department personnel discovered the driver — the sole occupant of the vehicle — unconscious and not breathing. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other vehicles or individuals were involved. The cause of the crash is being investigated by the department’s Major Accident Response Team (MART).

The other driver remained on site and cooperated with authorities. No arrests have been made at this time, and MART is continuing its investigation into the cause of the collision.

The identities of the deceased individuals have not yet been released, pending notification of their next of kin by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
