Folsom police are investigating the death of a 63-year-old man following a reported incident near a bar in the city’s Historic District on Saturday afternoon.

Folsom Times confirmed with Folsom Police that units were dispatched around 3:40 p.m. to the 700 block of Gold Lake Drive, home to Folsom State Slickers, for what was initially reported as a medical emergency, according to the Folsom Police Department. The man was later identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as James Douglas Caddy, a resident of Fair Oaks.

While police have not released details about what preceded the emergency, the case has since been classified as a homicide, and detectives are now handling it as a criminal investigation. Officials have not confirmed whether the incident occurred inside or directly outside the business. Details on the type of fatal injuries are being withheld as well.

At this time, investigators are not releasing any additional information about the incident, they have emphasized that the investigation remains active and are asking for the public’s help.
