A potentially dangerous juvenile-organized party was was shut fown last Friday, April 4, thanks to a timely tip from a concerned citizen has led to the arrest of a teenage driver found in possession of a loaded firearm that Folsom Police Officers released details about Monday morning.

According to the Folsom Police Department’s report, the event was initially advertised online and rapidly shifted locations throughout the evening—from Rancho Cordova to Cameron Park, and ultimately to the Leidesdorff parking garage in Historic Folsom. Officers responded to the developing situation, monitoring the area and successfully deterring more than 50 vehicles from entering the garage, preventing what authorities say could have turned into a hazardous gathering of underage individuals.

During the intervention, officers attempted to stop a vehicle approaching the garage. The driver, later determined to be a juvenile, fled the scene, prompting a brief pursuit, the department shared in its report. When the vehicle came to a stop nearby, officers discovered multiple underage passengers, open containers of alcohol, and a loaded 9mm handgun tucked into the driver’s waistband.

The juvenile was arrested and booked into Sacramento County Juvenile Hall on charges related to firearm possession and evading police.

In a message to the public, the department urged both parents and community members to remain vigilant:

“Parents: Please speak with your teens about the real dangers of these pop-up parties and the risks of firearm possession. Community members: If you see something concerning online or in your neighborhood, don’t hesitate to report it right away.”
