The Folsom Police Department is conducting a scheduled training exercise today, Monday, July 28, on the campus of Vista del Lago High School. The training is taking place away from areas where students are active, but residents and individuals on or near the campus may notice an increased law enforcement presence throughout the day.

The department has advised that members of the public may observe numerous police vehicles in the area, as well as uniformed officers carrying firearms and moving around the exterior of school buildings. The training will not involve any live ammunition, but loud noises, yelling, emergency lights, and sirens may be heard or seen as part of the exercise.

Police officials emphasized that the training is strictly precautionary and part of routine preparedness efforts. There is no threat to public safety, and the activity is not related to any active incident.

“This is all part of the training,” the department said in a statement, “and there is no safety concern for the campus, the surrounding area, or the public.”
