44-year-old woman arrested for felony criminal threats, firearm possession being held without bail
Security at two Folsom Schools was increased Thursday as the Folsom Police Department continued to investigate and work with the Folsom Cordova Unified School District after a series of social media posts by a parentraised concerns of parents.
Parents and staff at Carl Sundahl Elementary School and Sutter Middle School were told Thursday in a statement by Superintendent Erik Swanson the FCUSD is working with the Folsom Police Department to keep this parent away from the schools after what they posted.
School officials also sent notices to parents on Wednesday. Both the school district and the police department are not publicly detailing the specific content of the posts.
“We are aware that a parent in our community, who is highly active on social media, has been posting inappropriate content that is causing significant concern among our parents,” read Swanson’s statement. “Both FCUSD and Folsom police are taking steps to keep this parent away from our schools. Because this is an active investigation, neither we nor law enforcement can release details or answer specific questions about the many steps being taken in this situation.”
On Thursday, the district increased its staff to the campuses to monitor the situation and provide an increased adult presence. Folsom Police have continued to have a presence at the school’s as well.“Points of access are being closed and/or monitored and cameras are posted throughout the campuses to add additional security. In response to this concern, we have sent additional mental health professionals to the schools for any student or staff needing extra support,” the superintendent’s statement continued as he cited that the school district will continue to take the necessary measures to ensure students and families are safe.
Police make arrest Thursday afternoon
Around 4:00 p.m. Thursday, Folsom Police converged on a Folsom residence and served an arrest warrant for Sara Zamani(44, Folsom). Officers also served a search warrant at her residence. According to Sacramento County Jail records Zamani faces one charge for for felony Criminal Threats and additional charges including illegal Possesion of a Firearm and Disobeying a Restraining Order. She is being held without bail and is scheduled to appear in Sacramento County Court Sept. 9.
“The Folsom Police Department understands that the circumstances surrounding the implied threats on social media towards Carl Sundahl Elementary School have been of grave concern for our students, families, and residents. We appreciate the concerns that have been expressed with us over the last week,” Folsom Police said in a statement Thursday. “ Our officers and detectives have been working diligently with the schools and school district to ensure these threats were investigated and handled appropriately. While we value transparency, we must also protect involved persons privacy and details of the incident to maintain investigative integrity. When appropriate, we provide accurate information through our social media site.”
