Visitors to Historic Folsom can now enjoy a brand-new way to take in the sights and spirit of the holidays. Beginning today, Dec. 5, the first-ever Historic Folsom Holiday Ice Rink Sky Cam is officially live, offering a continuous real-time view of the city’s popular outdoor rink and the surrounding plaza throughout the season.
The new camera, available HERE or by pasting https://www.youtube.com/live/NYvuamtnv1g into your web browser allows residents—and anyone who loves the charm of Old Folsom—to tune in day or night and experience the holiday atmosphere from wherever they may be. For many, the Sky Cam will be a chance to check crowd levels before heading to the rink. For others, it may simply serve as a bit of hometown ambiance, bringing the familiar glow of the ice rink and Historic Folsom’s holiday décor to their television or computer screens in place of a traditional screensaver.
“This is great to have this addition to our ice rink this year,” said Jim Snook, President of the Historic Folsom District Association (FHDA) Board. “Residents can enjoy the view or they can tune in to see how busy it is on the rink before they go.”
Folsom Times co-founder and owner Adam Frick noted that launching the Sky Cam was made possible through collaboration with Bernau Development and Historic Folsom Station, who partnered with Folsom Times to bring the visual enhancement to life. He emphasized that the new addition is a visual-only feed, similar to the scenic city-view cameras used across Sacramento television stations, in Historic Placerville, and other communities.
“We’re excited to partner with Bernau Development and Historic Folsom Station to bring this new Sky Cam experience to the community,” Frick said. “Folsom Times is a proud sponsor of the Holiday Ice Rink and other Historic Folsom events, and this is just another addition we wanted to bring to the district and the community. The ice rink is a beloved tradition, and now people can enjoy the magic of Historic Folsom from home, at work, or anywhere throughout the season.”
The Historic Folsom Ice Rink continues its annual run through the holidays, drawing thousands of residents and visitors for skating, shopping, dining, and seasonal entertainment. The new Sky Cam adds an innovative layer to the experience, capturing the energy of the plaza as families, couples, and friends gather to make winter memories.
The live Sky Cam will remain active throughout the holiday season.
