A routine traffic stop in the early morning hours of March 6 led Folsom police to a significant discovery of stolen firearms and other items tied to a recent burglary in El Dorado Hills. Today l, the department released details of the significant case that continues to be under investigation.
According to the Folsom Police Department, officers stopped a vehicle around 1 a.m. near White Rock Road and Oak Avenue Parkway after noticing it was driving without license plates. During the stop, officers learned the driver, identified as 43-year-old Robert Carlson of Rancho Cordova, was on searchable probation.
A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered four stolen firearms, ammunition, tools, and camping equipment. Investigators later confirmed the items were linked to a recent burglary at a storage facility in El Dorado Hills.
Carlson was taken into custody at the scene and booked into Sacramento County Jail on multiple firearm and theft-related charges.
The case remains under investigation according to the report.
