Folsom Times to carry live broadcast of community event from start to finish
FOLSOM — Folsom will come together once again to salute those who have served our nation as the city hosts the 25th annual Wayne Spence Folsom Veterans Day Parade on Tuesday, November 11. The milestone event begins at 9 a.m. and is expected to draw thousands of spectators and more than 2,000 participants in a community-wide tribute to veterans past and present.
The parade, named in honor of its founder Wayne Spence, will feature a lineup of floats, classic cars, marching bands, color guards, equestrian units, and dozens of local civic and community organizations. Participants will stage in the Target/HomeGoods parking lot before stepping off near Montrose Drive. The procession travels west along East Bidwell Street, turns north on Coloma Street, and concludes along Natoma Street at City Lions Park, where a brief ceremony will be held at the Veterans Memorial to honor local service members.
The parade route will be closed to traffic during the event. East Bidwell Street will close from approximately 8 to 11 a.m., and Natoma Street between Coloma Street and Wales Drive will close from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. Detours will be clearly marked, and drivers are encouraged to use Riley and School streets as alternate routes. All closures will be lifted immediately following the parade’s conclusion.

This year’s event marks a significant milestone for the city’s patriotic tradition. What began as a one-man march by Folsom resident and veteran Wayne Spence decades ago has grown into one of the region’s largest Veterans Day observances. Spence’s vision—to ensure every veteran felt recognized for their service—continues to inspire the community, transforming his solitary gesture into an enduring civic celebration.
The parade is held rain or shine. Those unable to make it to the parade in person will be able to view it live and on demand as Folsom Times will be live streaming the event start to finish in collaboration with Orangevale Live this year.
