Wine Country Curling Club’s Team Connolly qualifies for 2025 USA Curling Arena Nationals

A Folsom woman is headed to Las Vegas to compete on one of the nation’s biggest stages for arena curling, as part of a Northern California team that continues to make its mark in the sport.

Peg Anderson of Folsom, along with teammates Jordan Connolly (Citrus Heights), Ashley Spalding (East Sacramento), and Anne Bonache (East Sacramento), earned a spot in the 2025 USA Curling Arena National Championships after a standout showing at the Mountain Pacific Women’s Arena Playdowns this past weekend in Tempe, Arizona.

Competing under the banner of Team Connolly for the Wine Country Curling Club, the squad finished at the top of a three-team, double round robin tournament, securing a 3-1 record and punching their ticket to the national championship event, set for October in Las Vegas.

“As a team, we’re incredibly proud, not just of this opportunity, but of how we lifted each other up every step of the way. This playdown weekend still feels surreal,” said team skip Jordan Connolly. “Thank you to the event organizers for making this happen and all of the support from our club, Wine Country Curling Club.”

This will mark the eighth consecutive year a team from the Roseville-based Wine Country Curling Club has advanced to or qualified for the Arena Nationals, a notable streak that speaks to the club’s consistency and competitive edge.

“This win is a testament to the grit and growth of our athletes,” said Katie Feldman, president of Wine Country Curling Club. “We’ve sent teams to Arena Nationals every year since 2016 and each time, it’s a reflection of the spirit, strength, and community we’ve built here on our Roseville ice.”

Team Connolly will join the club’s Team Spangler, who earned an automatic bid to the 2025 nationals after winning the men’s division at last year’s Arena Nationals.

Wine Country Curling Club has grown into one of the nation’s most vibrant arena curling programs. Founded in 2007, the nonprofit 501(c)(3) is based out of Skatetown Ice Arena in Roseville and is home to more than 120 members. Sharing the ice with hockey players and skaters, its members are dedicated to growing the Olympic sport across Northern California.

Each year, the club organizes more than 15 leagues, hosts two major bonspiels—including the popular Barrel Bonspiel—and supports a strong traveling culture. For the 2024–2025 season alone, club members have filled 304 bonspiel slots across 34 events worldwide.

In addition to its national recognition, the club proudly serves as home ice to curlers representing national teams from Portugal, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines, demonstrating the increasingly international nature of its community.

Whether it’s curling across North America or broomstacking with teammates in Roseville, the athletes of Wine Country Curling Club continue to foster camaraderie, competition, and a contagious passion for the sport—all while sporting their signature bold purple jerseys.
