A Folsom business owner is stepping onto the global yoga stage after being selected to help lead one of the industry’s most respected international certification programs.

Nick Clark, owner of Spotted Dog Yoga & SUP in Folsom, has been named a co-facilitator for Journey Into Power: Level One, the internationally recognized yoga teacher-leader training led by industry pioneer Baron Baptiste. The appointment marks a significant professional milestone for Clark and shines a spotlight on Folsom’s growing presence in the global wellness community.

Clark’s journey with the methodology spans more than a decade, beginning in 2011. What started as a search for a physical workout evolved into a toolkit for leadership and personal growth that has directly shaped the culture of Spotted Dog Yoga & SUP.

“I am deeply grateful to Baron for his mentorship and for the opportunity to guide this training together,” Clark said. “The tools we teach in Journey Into Power changed my life and my relationships. Bringing this level of work to our community in Folsom—and now to a global audience—is an incredible honor.”

Journey Into Power: Level One is a comprehensive Yoga Teacher-Leader Training developed over decades and trusted by more than 10,000 graduates across North America. It serves as the foundational immersion where the Baptiste Methodology is lived and embodied, developing the capacity to lead, teach and live from direct experience.

Clark’s selection to co-facilitate the international training reflects the work being cultivated locally at Spotted Dog Yoga & SUP. Under his leadership, the studio has grown into a community-focused space for those seeking more than just a workout.

Founded in 2014 by Nick and Katie Clark, Spotted Dog Yoga & SUP was inspired by their rescue dog, Bandit, and operates under the motto “Play Hard, Love Big, Live Spotted.” Located at 2780 E. Bidwell St., Suite 300, the studio specializes in Baptiste Power Yoga and seasonal Stand Up Paddleboard yoga.

Its core offerings include signature PowerFlow classes rooted in strength-based Baptiste style, PowerBurn sessions that blend yoga with high-intensity interval training, and restorative options such as DeepCalm and SoulNap. During warmer months, instructors lead yoga adventures on the water at Lake Natoma, offering Folsom’s original paddleboard yoga experience.

The studio also offers PowerKids classes for children ages 5 to 13 and the AWAKEN 200-hour teacher training program. In addition to workshops and global retreats, including experiences in Panama, Spotted Dog Yoga & SUP serves as the official yoga studio for the Folsom Lake College women’s soccer team.

The facility includes heated and non-heated rooms, showers and locker rooms. Classes can be booked through the studio’s website or mobile app, and the business can be reached at (916) 990-1720.

Clark’s international appointment underscores how a locally rooted Folsom business is influencing leadership and yoga education on a broader stage while continuing to serve its home community.
