August may be known as the so-called ‘dog days,’ but I see it as a month of possibilities. From local organization kudos to learning about creative startups, there’s no shortage of updates and good news to share. 

Third Thursday Pitch Night

Tomorrow night’s Pitch Night with the Northern California Innovation District will feature two promising companies, Adload Technologies Inc. and Knomee.

Adload Technologies is an ingenious ad platform that harnesses surprisingly effective real estate.Knomee is a female-founded pre-seed company formed by financial and tech industry veterans to revolutionize how personal data is captured, managed, and shared to deliver personalized financial services at scale. 

It’s an excellent opportunity to learn about two local startups. The event, to be held at the Granite School at 909 Mormon Street, will be held from 5-6:30 pm on Thursday, August 17. RSVP here

NASA Space Apps Challenge Returns to Folsom

The NASA Space Apps Challenge is back on October 7-8 at Granite City Coworking . The unique hackathon, open to the entire Sacramento region, brings together a range of folks interested in helping develop and realize changes on Earth and in space. Whether you’re a scientist or an artist, young or not-so-young, you’re invited to participate and collaborate. This year’s theme is Explore Science Together.

Folsom’s Community Service Day Celebrates 10 Years

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Folsom’s Community Service Day. The citywide event, to be held on September 16, brings together thousands of volunteers to work on dozens of service projects that range from park cleanups to donation drives (and everything in between).
