FOLSOM — Time is running out for residents, businesses, and neighborhood groups hoping to compete in this year’s Folsom Holiday Lights Contest. The final day to register is this Friday, December 12, marking the last opportunity to enter before judging begins next week across all five contest categories.

Folsom Times and the City of Folsom have once again partnered to present the annual celebration, which continues to grow as one of the community’s most cherished holiday traditions. Homes, storefronts, and entire neighborhood blocks throughout Folsom are preparing to light up the season, contributing everything from classic Christmas décor to elaborate themed displays.

Registration is free, but only those who sign up by Friday will be included in the judging rounds. Five categories will determine this year’s winners: the Holly Jolly Residence Award for best overall home display, the Clark Griswold Award recognizing standout lighting, the Hollywood Christmas category for themed or character-inspired décor, the Merry and Bright Business Award for festive storefronts, and the Illuminate the Block category honoring multi-home neighborhood displays.

This year’s prize packages are shaping up to be the largest the contest has offered, thanks to a growing list of generous partners. Visconti’s Ristorante, Scott’s Seafood, The Apex at Red Hawk Casino, Snook’s Candies, Dorothea’s Shoppe, and Dave & Buster’s of Folsom and FLB Entertainment Center are among the businesses already contributing gift certificates, experiences, and special holiday surprises for the winners, with more partners continuing to join the effort. For the Business Catagory, Folsom Times will be awarding a special advertising package as well.

“Folsom Times is thrilled to be invited once again to partner with the City of Folsom for this year’s Holiday Lights Contest,” said Bill Sullivan, co-founder/owner of Folsom Times. “Each year this event grows more exciting, more creative, and more community-driven, and we’re proud to help make 2025 even bigger and more rewarding than last year. We’ve been working closely with local retailers and community partners.” Any local retailers interested in partnering with Folsom Times by providing prizes, it is not too late to join the group. Those interested are encouraged to contact Sullivan atbill@folsomtimes.com.

In addition to gift packages, this year’s winners will receive commemorative plaques presented by Folsom Times during the Folsom City Council meeting where they will be formally recognized. Winners will also receive a colorful yard sign to display at their home or business, and their displays will be featured on FolsomTimes.com and in the City of Folsom’s official newsletter and social media channels.
