California Congressman Kevin Kiley recently honored Folsom’s Scott’s Seafood Roundhouse for its 25 years of success before the U.S. House of Representatives, celebrating the businesses significant contributions to the community.
“I wish to mark and celebrate the 25-year anniversary of Scott’s Seafood Roundhouse in Folsom, California,” Kiley said from the house floor as he opened his presentation. “In 1976, Scott’s Seafood Grill and Bar opened in San Francisco, but it was in 1999 when John and Suzanne Cook brought Scott’s to the Folsom community. For the past 25 years, the bar and grill has served as a premier community establishment, engaging and enriching Folsom and the broader region.”
Kiley highlighted the restaurant’s enduring presence and commitment to quality. “Scott’s Seafood has become synonymous with exceptional dining and community spirit. Their dedication to providing quality food and service has made them a cherished institution in Folsom,” he said, backing up the vision of Suzanne Cook, the establishment’s president and general manager’s vision that has made Scotts a cornerstone of the community and a go to place for residents and travelers alike for fine dining or celebrating a special occasion.
Originally located on Greenback Lane, the restaurant moved four years ago to Historic Folsom at 824 Sutter Street, where it shares the building with Willamette Wineworks upstairs for an excellent combination for guests.
“Now, located in the heart of Folsom, Scott’s Seafood is becoming a local household name,” Kiley noted, adding that the restaurant had successfully navigated significant challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the passing of owner John Cook in 2022.
“Despite these immense challenges, the resilience and continued passion for their business is very much evident,” Kiley stated. “With John’s wife, Suzanne, Scott’s Seafood is known not only for their fresh seafood and delicious meals, but also for their commitment to actively participating in and serving the community.”
Kiley praised Cook’s leadership and dedication. “Suzanne Cook has shown incredible strength and dedication in continuing her husband’s legacy,” he said. “Her commitment to the community and to maintaining the high standards of Scott’s Seafood is truly commendable.”
The restaurant’s business model, focused on quality food at fair prices, has remained consistent since its inception in 1999. “It offers quality food for a fair price served correctly by an exceptional staff who love what they do and to a community who wants to see Scott’s succeed,” Cook stated.
The history of Scott’s Seafood dates back to 1976, when the first Scott’s Seafood Grill & Bar opened at the corner of Scott and Lombard streets in San Francisco. The Folsom location, brought to town by the late John Cook in March 1999, operates independently of its Bay Area counterparts.
Kiley concluded his remarks by acknowledging the significant milestone and the restaurant’s impact on the community. “It is a true honor to represent exemplary businesses like Scott’s Seafood here in Congress,” he said. “Therefore, on behalf of the United States House of Representatives, it is my privilege to recognize Scott’s Seafood Roundhouse for reaching this significant milestone of 25 years in business.
