An early morning traffic stop by Folsom Police resulted in the apprehension of two wanted felons and the recovery of stolen mail belonging to dozens of Folsom residents.

According to a report from the Folsom Police Department, it was just after 1:30 a.m. Monday morning when Folsom Police Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop along the 1300 block of Fong Street when officers observed a vehicle that had a suspended registration. 

During the investigation, officers learned that the driver of the vehicle had a felony warrant for his arrest out of Placer County that the passenger in the vehicle was on probation and had two felony warrants for his arrest out of San Joaquin County for burglary charges.

During a routine probation search of the vehicle, officers then located a quanity of stolen mail and other personal identifying information from what they describe as dozens of Folsom residents, They also discovered United States Postal Services cluster mailbox master keys, drug paraphernalia and approximately $8,000.00 in cash in the vehicle.

Cameron Pope, 29,and Jesse Ramirez, 47, both of Tracy were booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail on multiple  felony charges including identity theft, conspiracy to commit a crime, possession of the identification of 10 or more people, mail theft and the possession of burglary tools and drug paraphernalia.

According to Sacramento County Jail records, both suspects remain in custody without the eligibility of bail and are scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in Sacramento County Court. The jail records system was down at the time of this article, preventing access to details of the suspect’s outstanding warrants.
