Multiple units from the El Dorado Hills Fire Department and additional agencies have stopped forward progress on a vegetation fire near Latrobe late Wednesday afternoon. 

At approximately 3:35 p.m. multiple engines were dispatched to the area of 1600 Shadow Hawk Drive, which is southeast of the El Dorado Hills business park near the community of Latrobe.  At the time of the initial call, it was estimated the fire was .25 acre in size.

According to radio traffic from air units at 4:11 p.m the fire was moving at a moderate rate of speed and had grown to approximately 7 acres in size, prompting the request for an additional air tanker and one additional helicopter and a water tender.

With the combination of air and ground attacks, crews were able to stop the forward progress of the fire around 4:25 pm and had contained it to an estimated 8-10 acres. 

Firefighters on the ground are expected to remain in the area into Wednesday night to continue mopping up the interior of the fire. 

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
