EL DORADO HILLS—Quick work by firefighters from CAL FIRE Amador-El Dorado Unit and the El Dorado Hills Fire Department helped stop the spread of a vegetation fire Monday in a residential area of El Dorado Hills.
Dubbed the “Falcon Fire,” the blaze broke out late Monday morning in the area of the 500 block of Falcons Crest Lane, a hillside community just off Salmon Falls Road. The initial report came in around 11:00 a.m. with smoke visible from nearby hillsides. Upon arrival, crews found approximately one acre of grass burning with a moderate rate of spread.
Incident Command initially reported no structures were immediately threatened. However, due to the terrain and a very close proximity to homes, a full response was launched including ground crews and air support.

Air Attack units observed the fire growing to approximately 3 acres before forward progress was officially stopped around 11:43 a.m. according to multiple updates from CAL FIRE and radio
traffic. By the time full containment operations were underway, the fire had burned 3.8 acres.
According to Air Attack over the incident, “The fire is now 3 acres in the grass. Ground crews have it pretty well contained.” Some air resources were released from the incident as firefighters transitioned into mop-up operations.
No injuries or structural damage were reported. Fire personnel remained on scene through the early afternoon to ensure hot spots were fully extinguished and to monitor for flare-ups.
The cause of the fire was reporting from mowing equipment in the area, which continues to be under investigation on scene.
