Lanes of Northbound East Bidwell Road near the Broadstone shopping center in Folsom were partially closed Friday afternoon as units from both Folsom and the El Dorado Hills Fire Department responded to a vehicle collision.
The collision occurred at the intersection of East Bidwell at Power Center Drive. Units were first dispatched to the incident at 11:41 a.m. after a 911 call reported the collision involving at least two vehicles and partially blocking the roadway in the northbound lanes of East Bidwell. The collision involved a BMW sedan and a full-size Toyota Tundra pick-up.
The pick-up truck suffered visible front-end damage in the collision. The BMW suffered significant damage to the driver’s side of the vehicle, requiring firefighters to gain access to through the passenger side of the vehicle for assistance while traffic was held in the northbound direction.
Responding units included one engine and one truck from the Folsom Fire Department along with Medic 35. El Dorado Hills also responded to the collision with an additional medic unit as well as a truck. Multiple units from the Folsom Police Department also responded and remain on scene as they wrap up the accident investigation.
According to initial reports, one medic unit was required to transport a female occupant of the BMW to a nearby hospital. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time. Traffic restrictions were expected to cause delays in the area for approximately 45 minutes to an hour as the incident is fully cleared.
