RANCHO CORDOVA—An early morning standoff between law enforcement and an armed man has prompted evacuations in a Rancho Cordova neighborhood Friday, following a domestic violence call that escalated into a high-risk situation.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and Rancho Cordova Police Officers initially responded just before 4 a.m. to a home on West La Loma Drive near Terra Loma Drive. The call was related to a report of domestic violence.

Upon arrival, authorities determined that a man believed to be armed had barricaded himself inside a residence. The man is reportedly alone in the home. Law enforcement quickly secured the area, and a large police presence, including SWAT units, responded to the active scene.

Police have established a perimeter with crime scene tape and have evacuated portions of the neighborhood out of an abundance of caution. No injuries have been reported as of Friday morning.
