If you love books and you love to help support your community library, Folsom has just the event for you this weekend. This Friday through Saturday is the Friends of The Folsom Library Annual Spring Book Sale.
This event begins Friday afternoon for early birds that want to peruse the largest selection of books for sale before the weekend rush. Friday’s early sale takes place from 4-7 p.m. in the main meeting room of the Folsom Public Library at 411 Stafford Street in Folsom. Friday’s early access does have an admission of $5, the price to become a member of the Friends of Folsom Library and support their efforts. Those who are already members are admitted free on Friday as well those with a military I.D.
Saturday and Sunday admission to the sale is free of charge. Saturday the hours are 11 a.m. until 9 a.m. and all books are regular price, which is $2 for most books and .50 for children’s books. On Sunday the sale hours are 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. no admission and the cost of books gets even better, just $5 for a standard size grocery bag filled with books of your choice.
Folsom Lead Librarian Andrew Tweet told FolsomTimes.com Wednesday afternoon to share the news of a special collection of books that have been donated and will be available for purchase.
“They just received a donation of 96 volumes of Easton leather-bound classic books in perfect condition,” said Tweet. “Those are a favorite with book collectors. Interested individuals can direct inquiries to the volunteer staff at the event to negotiate a price.”
Tweet noted that the best selection of books will be on Friday afternoon, prior to free admission access taking place the two following days.
I addition to the thousands of donated books and media that will be on sale, the Friends of Folsom Library will also have pre-wrapped gift sets that include a stuffed animal matched with a children’s book related to the type of animal. They will also have a variety of handmade greeting cards for sale, all made by local volunteers.
Tweet added that in addition to paperback and hardcover fiction from popular authors they always have cooking, gardening, religion, crafts, biographies, poetry, history and more in the nonfiction sections as well.
The Friends of the Folsom Library has one purpose, to advocate for and support the Folsom Public Library. The time volunteered and the money raised by the organization helps support literacy, culture and education for the Folsom community and makes many local programs possible.
