A new weekly program for Folsom’s youngest residents and their parents is now underway, giving families a Friday-morning space focused on connection, play and early learning.
The Fun Foundations: Parent & Me Toddler Program, offered by Folsom Parks and Recreation, is a parent-participation experience designed for toddlers and their parents. The program blends structured early learning activities with guided play and social time, creating a welcoming environment where both children and parents can build friendships and routines.
Each weekly session features a mix of circle time, music, storytelling, art and hands-on activities that support early language development, physical movement and social interaction. The format is intentionally designed to encourage parent involvement, allowing mothers and fathers to actively participate while learning alongside their child.
Parks and Recreation staff say the program also emphasizes community-building, giving parents the opportunity to meet other families at similar stages while children practice sharing, listening and exploring in a group setting. In addition to the weekly activities, the program incorporates seasonal monthly themes to keep sessions fresh and engaging, with a special dress-up day held on the last Friday of each month.
The January theme, Winter Wonderland, introduces seasonal crafts, stories and activities tied to the colder months, helping toddlers connect familiar experiences to early learning concepts.
Fun Foundations is part of the city’s ongoing effort to expand recreation and enrichment opportunities for families with young children, particularly programs that focus on early development and parent-child bonding. City officials say parent-participation programs continue to see strong interest as families look for meaningful ways to spend time together while forming connections within the community.
