All turkey donors have a chance to win $1000 VIP Shopping Experience at Adrian Blanco Jewelry
The holiday spirit is alive and well in Folsom today as dozens of volunteers from Friends of Folsom are out bright and early for the group’s 16th Annual “Buy One More” Turkey Drive. From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., teams of cheerful volunteers are stationed outside two city retailers locations — Walmart, and Grocery Outlet — encouraging shoppers to grab an extra frozen turkey and donate it to help families in need this Thanksgiving.
The drive, held each year on Veterans Day, has become one of Folsom’s most beloved and impactful community traditions. What started as a small grassroots effort among a handful of local friends has grown into a massive day of giving that now helps feed tens of thousands of families across the greater Sacramento region through the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services.
Friends of Folsom—known affectionately around town as the “framily” that makes things happen—was formed to create opportunities for residents and local businesses to give back and strengthen their community through volunteerism and service. From back-to-school drives to community cleanup, event support and the annual “Warm & Fuzzy” holiday campaign, the group’s mission is simple: unite the city through kindness, one project at a time.
This year’s turkey drive comes with an added incentive for donors. Anyone who donates a turkey today will be automatically entered into a raffle for a $1,000 VIP shopping experience at Adrian Blanco Jewelry in Historic Folsom — a generous contribution from local jeweler Adrian Blanco, who continues to support community causes year after year.

“It’s incredible to see the outpouring of generosity from our community,” said Sarah Woods of Friends of Folsom, who kicked off their 2025 efforts with a benefit concert Nov.1 in Historic Folsom. “Every turkey makes a difference. When people buy just one more, it multiplies into thousands of meals for families who really need it.”
Volunteers in Friends of Folsom shirts and colorful turkey attire are greeting shoppers throughout the day Tuesday, loading donated turkeys into trucks, and spreading joy with plenty of laughter and holiday energy throughout the day. Many families make a tradition of stopping by each year to take part, teaching children about the power of giving.
Those unable to visit one of the collection sites today can still participate by making an online donation at www.friendsoffolsom.org, where every contribution goes directly toward purchasing turkeys for distribution through the Sacramento Food Bank.
The Friends of Folsom buy one more Turkey Drive runs until 6 p.m. this evening. Shoppers are encouraged to stop by, “buy one more,” and help ensure that every family in the region has a Thanksgiving meal to enjoy.
