AUBURN—The Gold Country Pro Rodeo is set to make its long-awaited return to the Gold Country Fairgrounds this week, bringing with it three days of high-octane rodeo action, family entertainment, and nearly a century of Western tradition.
Celebrating its 94th year, the long loved event takes place April 11–13 at McCann Stadium, located within the Gold Country Fairgrounds at 209 Fairgate Drive in Auburn. From professional rodeo competitions to food, music, and specialty acts, organizers say this year’s rodeo offers something for everyone.
Festivities officially begin this Thursday, April 10, with the free Rodeo Kick-Off Party at Auburn Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM from 6 to 8 p.m. Located at 1901 Grass Valley Highway in Auburn, the event features food trucks, music, a bar, free kids activities, and a dummy roping competition for young cowboys and cowgirls. Entry fees for the roping contest are waived this year thanks to sponsorship from Borden Signature Properties.
Friday night marks the return of the fan-favorite Night Rodeo under the stars. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. and the rodeo begins at 7 p.m. The evening also highlights “Tough Enough to Wear Pink Day,” supporting breast cancer awareness. Attendees who wear pink apparel—whether it’s a shirt, hat, scarf, or boots—can enter a drawing for a special prize.
Saturday’s events start with gates opening at 1:30 p.m. and rodeo action kicking off at 4 p.m. That night, the fun continues downtown with the Official Rodeo Cowboy Bash at Pistol Pete’s Brew & Cue, 140 Harrison Avenue in Auburn. The 21+ event runs from 7 p.m. until close and features music, dancing, and a $20 cover charge at the door.

Saturday also serves as Community Day, encouraging attendees to wear black as a sign of unity. Organizers invite guests to take part in the celebration of togetherness through entertainment and shared experiences throughout the day.
On Sunday, April 13, the day begins with Cowboy Church from 10 to 11 a.m., a free non-denominational worship service held at the Rodeo Stadium. Those who wish to attend the afternoon rodeo must still purchase a separate event ticket.
Sunday is also designated as Patriot Day and First Responder Day. Gates open at 11:30 a.m., with the rodeo starting at 2 p.m. First responders receive free admission with valid credentials, including a medical badge, military ID, or other service ID. Organizers advise early arrival and recommend securing general admission tickets for any family or friends in advance, as Sunday’s performance typically sells out.

This year’s rodeo lineup features professional bull riding, saddle bronc and bareback riding, barrel racing, freestyle motocross (FMX) riders, trick riding, specialty acts, shopping, and a wide variety of food vendors. Returning favorites like Mutton Busting and other interactive kids activities will also be featured throughout the weekend.
Tickets start at $25 plus applicable fees and are available online. Covered seating is limited and advance purchase is strongly recommended. For tickets and more information, visit the official website at www.GoldCountryProRodeo.com.
