GRANITE BAY – A man was arrested on suspicion of Driving Under the Influence after driving his Tesla into a Girl Scout cookie sales stand located at the front entrance of  Walmart in Granite Bay on late Saturday afternoon.

According to a report from the California Highway Patrol, Gary Benson, 69, reportedly crashed into the stand shortly after 3:50 p.m. in front of the retail location at Sierra College and Douglas Boulevard.  

The CHP report noted that a 10-year-old and a 9-year-old were transported to the hospital with moderate injuries.

A 78-year-old woman was transported to the hospital with major injuries. 

Benson was arrested for suspicion of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol while driving, he was booked into the Placer County jail.
