The Hands4Hope Youth Making a Difference Youth Board is hosting a wellness expo bannered as Welcome to Wellness, Sunday, Apr. 23, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The new event will take place at the Serrano Village Green, 4525 Serrano Parkway in El Dorado Hills.

Welcome to Wellness is dedicated to bringing awareness to mental health, as well as supporting JJ’s Hello Foundation, a local organization with a mission to prevent youth suicide, promote mental health awareness and create a message of hope for pre-teens, teens and young adults.

One of the ways JJ’s supports youth in the community is by creating and distributing mental health boxes to youth struggling with mental health. The boxes contain a variety of support tools like fidget toys, journals, positive messages, coloring books and a card with information on where to get support if needed. Each box costs an average of $15.

The Wellness Expo is free to enter, family friendly and a wonderful way to learn more about mental health and wellness. The event will offer music and a variety of vendors and activities to share tools for and encourage mental health support and wellness.

This year, the youth board unanimously voted to support efforts related to mental health and wellness because we know how much need there is in this area for youth and adults.

The Hands4Hope Youth Board is proud to support JJ’s Hello Foundation and hope this event will have a big impact on the community by bringing awareness and providing resources to those in need. JJ’s Hello Foundation was created by Michelle and Josh Anderson following the loss of their 12-year-old son JJ to suicide on Feb. 13, 2016.

“We would like to thank Hands4Hope for including our foundation in your event and helping raise money for youth mental health and suicide prevention,” said Josh and Michelle Anderson, co-founders of JJ’s Hello Foundation. “Together, with the help of people in the community like yourselves, we can raise awareness and save lives.”

All proceeds from the Wellness Expo will support JJ’s Hello Foundation and the Hands4Hope – Youth Making a Difference Education Program. Sponsors are still needed to help fund this event. For more information and sponsorship package options, visit https://www.hands4hopeyouth.org/wellnessexpo.
