“Reels for Recovery” event planned by Vista del Lago Hands4Hope Club will take place April 11 at Mangini Ranch School

Families are invited to enjoy an evening of fun, film, and fundraising this Friday as Vista del Lago High School’s Hands4Hope – Youth Making a Difference Club hosts a special movie night for a meaningful cause.

The event, titled Reels for Recovery, will take place Friday, April 11, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. inside the multipurpose room at Mangini Ranch Elementary, located at 4640 Sparrow Drive in Folsom. The featured film of the evening is The Lego Batman Movie, a family-friendly favorite packed with laughs and superhero action.

Organizers are encouraging attendees to bring blankets and get cozy for the movie night, which will also include pizza, snacks, drinks, raffles, and more. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Firefighters Burn Institute, a nonprofit that provides vital support to burn survivors and their families, as well as education and prevention programs.

The Vista Del Lago Hands4Hope Club chose to partner with the Firefighters Burn Institute, a Sacramento-region nonprofit that helps burn victims recover while also offering fire and burn prevention education. The club is hoping to raise $1,000 through the movie night and an ongoing online donation campaign.

“The Institute began with a mission to help establish a local burn treatment facility in the Sacramento area,” said organizers. “Today, they continue to do critical work in burn research, prevention, and recovery, helping survivors from all walks of life.”

Tickets are available for purchase at the door or in advance via QR code. Admission is just $5 for children under 18, and free for adults. A special family value pack is also available for $18, which includes entry for four children, with additional kids just $5 each. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

In addition to ticket sales, donations are being accepted to help stock the movie night snack bar. Community members who would like to contribute can sign up online to donate items like drinks, candy, and popcorn.

The club encourages the community to help spread the word by inviting friends and neighbors, or sharing words of encouragement about why the Firefighters Burn Institute’s work is meaningful to them.
